SYLLABUS AND EXAMINATION PLANNING FOR THE POST OF EVALUATION OFFICER

(PLANNING DEPARTMENT) 

EXAMINATION PATTERN:

Pattern of Question Papers: 

1. Objective Type Paper. 

2. Maximum Marks : 100. 

3. Number of Questions : 100. 

4. Duration of Paper : Two Hours. 

5. All Questions carry equal marks. 

6. There will be Negative Marking. 

 

:SYLLABUS OF EXAMINATION:

Analysis of univariate and multivariate data: Collection and Representation of Data,  Measures of central tendency, Dispersions, Skewness & Kurtoris. Regression and  Correlation for bivariate and multivariate data. 

Sampling: Planning and executations of a sample survey, methods of Sampling: Simple random, stratified random, cluster and two stage, systematic and successive  sampling, non-sampling errors, Report writing. 

Probability and Probability distributions: Classical and axiomatic approach to probability, Additional and Multiplication laws, conditional, Baye’s Theorem, Expectations and variance of random variable, Binomal, Poisson, Normal, Lognormal, Exponential distributions. 

Hypothesis: Formulation and Testing- Chisquare, t, and F distributions, with properties, and applications. Analysis of variance, Designs of Experiments: CRD, RBD, LSD. Theory of Estimation: Unbiasednes consistency, sufficiency and minimum variance unbiasedness. 

Demography: Vital statistics, measures of mortality and fertility, life table, its construction and uses. Index Number: Definition, Types, Constructions and Tests. Time Series Analysis: Components and their Measurements, AR, MA and ARMA Models. 

Project Planning: Project identification, feasibility assessment, project review, monitoring and control of projects, appraisal of project, cost-benefit analysis. Investment Decisions: cost of capital, capital budgeting decisions, risk and uncertainty decisions, zero base budgeting, performance budgeting, cost-volume profit analysis. 

National Income, concepts, and National Income accounting in four sector of Economy, consumption function, Investment function, Supply of Money, Money Multiplier, Theories of Inflation, Fiscal and Monetary Policy. 

Theories of Demand: Utility, Indifference curve, Revealed Preference Theory, Recent  development in demand analysis, Law variable proportion & returns to scale, Economies of scale, Eulers Theorem, Cobb Douglous Production Function, Oligopoly, Pigovian Welfare Economics. 

Role of Government in organized society, Private and Public mechanism for allocating resources, State government budget, Trends in public expenditure & Public debt. Fiscal Sector reforms in India, Review of Indian Plan models. Trade and Trade policies in India since 1991.
