(1) The Nest is an educational institution aiming at building an integrated personality, a personality that is a harmonious balance of the different elements that constitute our being, our body, our feelings, our thoughts & impulses, our aspiration & our seeking. (2) The physical, emotional & mental aspects of education are sought to be realised through a carefully planned programme. Nearly an hour each day is devoted to outdoor play & guided physical education activities. Creative arts like music, drawing, painting & handwork occupy another hour & a half. Montessori apparatus involving exercise relating to everyday life, sensory training, language work & number work serve to sharpen the child's power of observation & analysis. Children learn to become self-reliant in terms of personal care & hygiene. Instead of starting off with pencil & paper from the day one, the children are prepared for writing, through activities that develop the muscles of the hand and fingers. (3) Children are not subjected to any form of test at the time of making admissions. Instead the school authorities interact with the parents applying for admission of their children. (4) In this institution the base is prepared for creating an atmosphere where children look forward to come to school. Concepts are introduced through Art & Craft, Music & Montessori apparatus. (5) The school combines the best of the play ways & the conventional methods, with very little regimentation & an open & flexible environment. (6) The Student Teacher ratio is very low: We have 25 to 30 children with one teacher & one helper in the Nursery & K.G. sections respectively. Besides, we have special teachers for Art, Montessori, Music, toys, games, Library & Physical education.
