NATIONAL AFFAIRS:

1) Mumbai Central Railway Station to be called Nana Shankarsheth Mumbai Central Station:

On March 12th, 2020, the Maharashtra government approved renaming the Mumbai Central Station as Nana Shankarsheth Mumbai Central Railway Station due to its participation in establishing an Indian Railway Association and introducing railways to our country India.

2) “Amantran Abhiyan Ganga,” facilitated by Clean Ganga National Mission:

“Ganga Amantran Abhiyan” (GAA) was structured on March 14, 2020 by the National Mission for Clean Ganga, which is an open water rafting and kayaking trip on the Ganga.

3) The World Consumer Rights Day is celebrated on 15 March:

World Consumer Rights Day is commended on 15 March where consistently the consumer movement praises 15 March with World Consumer Rights Day, the day expects to bring issues to light of consumer rights and needs around the world.

4) Government of Assam to build 33 stadiums under Uttaran scheme:

Under the Uttaran Scheme, the Assam government intends to build 33 stadiums over the state, 300 crores will be given to develop those stadiums, declared by Sports Secretary Avinash Joshi and Joint Director Kamaljit, and 500 playgrounds will be constructed to promote rural talent.

5) ‘Customer payment portal’ was launched by HIL India Limited:

HIL (India) Limited, in collaboration with Union Bank of India, unveiled “Customer Payment Portal” in New Delhi by Dr. S.P. Mohanty, Chairman and Managing Director, Shri Anjan Banerjee, Director Finance of HIL (India) Limited and Shri R. K. Jaglan, Head of Government Business Division, Shri G. K. Sudhakar Rao, Regional Head Delhi South of Union Bank of India.

6) Minister Mansukh Mandaviya to initiate the Ro-Pax Ferry Vessel in Mandwa Port:

Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of State (I/C) for Shipping and Chemical and Fertilizers, will introduce the ROPAX Ferry Vessel and its Terminal at Mandwa in Maharashtra on March 15.

7) RBI revised the UCB exposure guidelines:

RBI reconsidered introduction limits for urban cooperative banks (UCB) to a solitary borrower and a group of borrowers to 15% and 25% separately of level -1 capital.

8) India shuts 18 out of 37 international frontiers due to Corona Virus:

On March 14, 2020, the Indian government called for the suspension of 18 out of 37 outskirts worldwide from March 15, 2020, which includes fringe intersections across Nepal, Myanmar, Bhutan and Bangladesh.

9) Prashant Kumar named as MD and CEO, and Sunil Mehta as YES Bank’s Non-Executive Chairman:

On 14 March 2020 the Government named

– Prashant Kumar as MD & Chief Financial Officer(CEO), who was former Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Managing Director(MD) of SBI.

–  MD Sunil Mehta as Non-Executive Chairman, who was former Punjab National Bank (PNB) 

–  Mahesh Krishnamurthy & Atul Bheda as non-executive directors of Yes Bank’s reconstructed board. 

 

WORLD AFFAIRS:

1) Bill Gates left the Microsoft team of boards:

Co-founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates moved down from the board of Microsoft where Microsoft had not named any replacement on the board for Gates. Gates also revealed he would step down from the Berkshire Hathaway board of directors.

2) National emergency from corona virus in the US:

US President Donald Trump has proclaimed a national emergency over the outbreak of corona virus where the government has provided USD 50 billion to combat the disease.

3) WION Global Summit 2020 third release, held in Dubai, UAE:

On March 5, 2020, at The Oberoi in Dubai, UAE (United Arab Emirates), WION (World Is One News), India’s first Foreign News Channel, composed its third version of the Global Summit 2020 on the subject of “Navigating and Resolving Global Imperatives.”

 

SPORTS AFFAIRS:

1) The Saurashtra Cricket team led by Jaydev Unadkat captured the Ranji Trophy title in 2019-20:

On March 13, 2020, 28-year-old Jaydev Dipakbhai Unadkat drove the Saurashtra team and won the maiden Ranji Trophy trophy, earning 44 runs in the first innings to beat Bengal’s team at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot, and Gujarat.

2) Shikha Pandey honored by the Indian Air Force:

Indian women’s cricket team’s fast bowler Shikha Pandey was honored on Saturday after a good performance in the T20 World Cup. Shikha is a squadron leader in the Indian Air Force. She was honored by Air Officer Incharge (Administration) Air Marshal MSG Menon.

 

STATE AFFAIRS:

1) Nimbaram, to be field campaigner of the association:

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (National volunteer union) new constituency in Rajasthan region will be Nimbaram. The current field campaigner, Durgadas, along with the All India Executive Member of the Sangh will also take charge of the nomad work.

NATIONAL AFFAIRS:

 

1) Farmer’s daughter is now the first woman deputy commandant in the Coast Guard:

The daughter of a Degwa village farmer in the district, Vasundhara Chaukse, earned the distinction of becoming the nations ‘ first female deputy commandant in the Indian Coast Guard.

 

2) Special arrangements for the safety of women passengers-Female duct escort will run in trains:

RPF has implemented his female corps escort in trains to curb accidents and molestation of female passengers on trains. It is named Rani Laxmibai Vahini. This RPF escort will be operated from Jhansi.

 

3) Government introduced masks & hand sanitizers under the Act of 1955 on essential commodities:

The government adapted the 1955 Essential Commodities (EC) Act on 13 March 2020 to declare 2 ply & 3 ply surgical masks, N95 masks and hand sanitizers as crucial items until 30 June 2020. This is done to ensure that these items are available on the market at the right price given the coronavirus outbreak and also have a plan to manage it.

 

4) Justice Bansi Lal Bhat, NCLAT’s latest official for three-month president:

According to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, Justice (Retd) Bansi Lal Bhat was appointed as the Official Chairman of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) on March 14, 2020. He is delegated for a three-month time span with effect from March 15, 2020 or until a lasting Chairman is selected.

 

5) Shardul Thakur elected as Tata Power’s brand ambassador:

Indian cricketer Shardul Thakur has named Tata Power’s brand ambassador, India’s largest power generation firm, which intends to give continuous power supply from its diverse plants across India. This is his first big commercial endorsement and the campaign that includes him has a strong presence in internet, radio and outdoor environments.

 

6) CRPF signs MoU with Aditya mehta foundation to train their specially capable troops in digital security and AI fields:

On March 13, 2020, the Central Reserve Police Force, India’s biggest National Armed Police Force, marked a Memorandum of Understanding with Aditya Mehta Foundation, a non-profit association that enables individuals with inabilities to seek after game, to prepare its 189 CRPF personnel who have lost their appendages in digital security, artificial intelligence and Paralympic sports tasks.

 

WORLD AFFAIRS:

 

1) The US Federal Reserve reduces interest rates to 0 % as a result of  corona virus:

The United States Reserve Bank announced on February 16, 2020 that due to the rising impact of Corona Virus, the primary interest rates will be lowered to 0 per cent to 0.25 per cent.

 

SPORTS AFFAIRS:

 

1) Saurashtra won Ranji Trophy award:

Saurashtra team captured the Ranji Trophy title for the first time in 70 years, becoming the champion based on the lead gained in the first innings of the final against Bengal.

 

2) Female cricketer Deepti honoured:

The Indian women’s cricket team made a place in the finals by performing brilliantly in ICC T20 World Cup held in Australia recently. In the journey to the final, the team’s all-rounder Deepti Sharma also had a great performance. Dipti was honoured for her performance in Kolkata.
