NATIONAL AFFAIRS:

1) In a half year, the symptomatic instances of Delhi coronavirus could cross 1.5 million:

2) Shivraj Singh Chouhan became CM of Madhya Pradesh:

8) India joins 21-day Lockdown Day 1:

On March 23, 2020, the Government of Sri Lanka promised to contribute $5 million to the Corona Emergency Fund reported on March 15, 2020 by Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi to the SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) with an underlying award of $10 million from India to resolve the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

 

SPORTS AFFAIRS:

1) Canada is the first nation to return from the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo:

On 23 March 2020 the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Committee mutually announced that it won’t send any of its competitors to partake in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 planned for 24 July 2020 in Japan in view of the rapid spread of coronavirus malady over the world.

2) Olympic torch relay in Tokyo was postponed:

The Japanese leg of the Tokyo Olympic torch relay was postponed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic where the declaration was made by Yoshiro Mori, president of the organizing board of trustees for Tokyo 2020.

NATIONAL AFFAIRS:

1) G-20 Digital World Summit scheduled to take place on 26 March:

The summit will be joined by all G20 nations including India via a video conference on March 26th, 2020. The principal virtual G-20 Summit will occur on March 26, 2020 under the chairmanship of Saudi Arabia’s King Salman, where the gathering will unite 20 significant economies around the globe to arrange steps and proposals to handle the COVID 19 pandemic.

2) Development of Aligarh-Harduaganj flyover authorized by Cabinet:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) affirmed the development of Aligarh-Harduaganj flyover which will be taken over by the Ministry of Railways.

8) PM Modi announced a 21-day lockdown (Mar 25-April 14, 2020) to break the COVID-19 contamination chain and Center gave 15,000 crore Rs to health care:

PM Narendra Modi has announced a 21-day lockdown for the entire country beginning from March 25, 2020 till April 14, 2020 as a best way to break the chain of COVID-19 contamination which is an emergency procedure commanding individuals to remain at home and venturing out of the house except for a basic reason otherwise will be a punishable offense.

9) The Ministry of Labor directs the government to pay 3.5 crore construction workers from the Rs 52,000 crore budget:
