EXAMINATION PATTERN:

The Competitive examination shall include the following papers and each paper shall carry the 200 marks:-

:SYLLABUS OF EXAMINATION:

Paper-I  GENERAL HINDI (सामान्य हिन्दी) 

1. वर्ण एवं ध्वनि विचार: उच्चारण, लेखन, स्वर, व्यंजन, मात्रा- पहचान और प्रयोग, ध्वनियों का वर्गीकरण। 

 

2. शब्द रचना: संधि एवं संधि विच्छेद, समास, उपसर्ग, प्रत्यय। 

3. शब्द प्रकार: (क) तत्सम, अर्द्धतत्सम, तदभव, देशज, विदेशी। 

                        (ख) संज्ञा, सर्वनाम, विशेषण, क्रिया, अव्यय (क्रिया विशेषण, संबंध सूचक, विस्मयबोधक निपात) 

4. शब्द ज्ञान: पर्यायवाची, विलोम, शब्द युग्मों का अर्थ भेद, वाक्यांश के लिए सार्थक शब्द, समश्रुत भिन्नार्थक शब्द, समानार्थी शब्दों का विवेक, उपयुक्त शब्द चयन, संबंधवाची शब्दावली। 

 

5. शब्द शुद्ध। 

6. व्याकरणिक कोटियाँ: परसर्ग, लिंग, वचन, पुरूष, काल, वृत्ति (mood), पक्ष (aspect), वाच्य (voice).

7. वाक्य रचना। 

8. वाक्य प्रकार: सरल, संयुक्त, मिश्र। 

9. वाक्य शुद्धि। 

10. विराम चिन्हों का प्रयोग। 

11. मुहावरे / लोकोक्तियाँ। 

12. पारिभाषिक शब्दावली: प्रशासनिक, विधिक (विशेषतः)। 

13. अनुवाद: समतुल्य शब्द चयन, वाक्यांश का अर्थ (अंग्रेजी अवतरण)। 

14. पत्र/ प्रारूप लेखन। 

15. हिन्दी गद्यावतरण (2000 शब्द): शब्द, वाक्यांश, प्रश्नोत्तर, अर्थ आदि पर आधारित।

(3) Measures of central tendency: Arithmetic mean, geometric mean, harmonic mean, median, mode, quartiles, deciles and percentiles. 

(4) Measures of Dispersion, Skewness & Kurtosis: Range, quartile deviation, mean deviation standard deviation, variance, coefficient of variation, moments, measures of skewness and kurtosis. 

(5) Elementary Probability: Classical and statistical definition of probability, addition and multiplication theorems of probability, conditional probability and Bayes theorem. 

(6) Random variables, Mathematical expectation and Probability distributions: Probability mass function, Probability density function and their properties. Concept of moment generating function, cumulant generating function and characteristic function. Discrete probability distributions: Bernoulli, binomial, Poisson, negative binomial, geometric and hypergeometric. Continuous probability distributions: Rectangular, normal, gamma and beta type one and type two and cauchy. Sampling distributions: Chi-square, t-distribution, F-distribution and their applications. 

(7) Correlation and Regression: Karl- Pearson’s coefficient of correlation and Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient, simple linear regression, method of least squares. 

(8) Sampling methods: Simple random sampling with and without replacement, stratified random sampling, cluster sampling, systematic sampling, sampling for proportions. 

(9) Experimental Design: Concept of analysis of variance (ANOVA) for one way and two way classified data, transformation of data, uniformity trials, principles of design of experiments. Completely randomised design (CRD), Randomised block design (RBD), Latin square design (LSD), missing plot technique, 22 & 23 factorial experiments in RBD, complete and partial confounding. 

(10) Time Series: Components , measurement of trend, measurement of seasonal variations, problem of autocorrelation and its remedies. 

(11) Theory of estimation and Testing of Hypotheses: Point and interval estimation, properties of estimators, methods of estimation-method of least squares and maximum likelihood estimation. Confidence interval and confidence limits. Concept of hypotheses, types of errors, Neyman- Pearson’s lemma, parametric tests for large and small samples. Non-parametric tests- run, sign and median. 

(12) Agriculture Statistics and Statistical Organisations in India: Importance of agriculture statistics, agricultural statistical systems in India, Agricultural census, Livestock census, Agriculture survey, National Agricultural production Index, CSO, NSSO and National Income. 

(13) Statistical Genetics: Physical basis in inheritance, analysis of segregation, detection and estimation of linkage for qualitative characters, genetic variance and its partitioning, correlation between relatives heritability, repeatability and genetic correlation. 

(14) Interpolation, Extrapolation and Numerical Integration: Finite differences, divided differences, Newton’s forward and backward interpolation , Newton’s divided difference interpolation & Lagrange’s interpolation. Simpson’s ⅓rd and ⅜th rule of numerical integration.
