NATIONAL NEWS:

1) Andhra Pradesh CM introduced the NIGHA framework for monitoring electoral violence:

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Yeduguri Sandinti Jaganmohan Reddy launched the NIGHA application in Tadepalli, Andhra Pradesh on March 8, 2020. The app was created by Panchayat Raj department.  The proposal seeks to curtail the use of money and liquor in the forthcoming local body elections and implemented measures to combat electoral violence in addition to measures taken by the State Election Commission and Police Department. 

2) Lt Gen KJS Dhillon to assume responsibility as DG DIA, Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (DCIDS):

On 9 March 2020, the Ministry of Defense announces the appointment of Lt Gen Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon (57) as Director-General, Defense Intelligence Agency, Deputy Chief of Integrated Defense Staff, under the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) in the Department of Military Affairs, to succeed Lt Gen AS Bedi.

3) Andhra Pradesh positioned first in the nation for POSHAN Abhiyaan execution:

On March 9, 2020 Andhra Pradesh (AP) ranked first in the nation to use POSHAN (Prime Minister’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition) Abhiyaan according to NITI Aayog’s September 2019 progress report, “Transforming Nutrition in India: POSHAN Abhiyaan.”

4) The Center, headed by previous SC judge Ranjana Prakash Desai, comprises the Delimitation Commission for J&K, Assam, Manipur, Arunachal:

In the exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the Delimitation Act, 2002, the Central Government established a Commission for Delimitation on March 06, 2020. It was led by former Supreme Court judge Ranjana Prakash Desai for the delimitation of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory (J&K) Assam, Arunachal Pradesh (AP), Manipur and Nagaland Assembly and Parliamentary constituencies.

5) Jewar Airport, UP is recognized internationally for the strategic infrastructure:

Jewar Airport’s first phase, Uttar Pradesh (UP), has been included in the 100 global strategic infrastructure projects for the year 2020 worldwide. It was recognized in the CG LA Infrastructure List while UP (India) and Yugoslavia (Europe) were selected from all over the world in the aviation category sector.

6) Government of India issued industrial licenses for manufacturing Bullet Proof Jackets to 15 firms:

The announcement was made by defense minister Rajnath Singh, who granted industrial licenses to 15 companies to produce Bullet Proof Jackets (BPJs) on 11 March.

7) CRPF established the Shakti Prize:

A special ‘ Shakti Award ‘ has been instituted by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), which will be awarded annually to selected staff working to empower women.

 

WORLD NEWS:

1) UN adopts women’s rights international declaration during the CSW64 conference in New York, USA:

On March 10, 2020, the United Nations (UN), an intergovernmental body aimed at maintaining international peace and security, adopted a stripped-down political statement pledging to step up efforts to fully implement the historic Beijing Declaration and Forum for Efforts on Gender Equality negotiated 25 years ago.

2) Infosys works with Qualcomm to provide solutions for the smart cities:

Tech giant Infosys collaborated with the US-based chipmaker Qualcomm to provide solutions for smart cities through Qualcomm’s accelerator program where the collaboration will provide solutions for smart stadiums, smart arenas and smart event management.

 

SPORTS NEWS:

1) Hockey India (HI) joins 38-member World Masters Hockey (WMH); RP Singh is named as HI Masters Committee convener:

Hockey India joined the 38 national associations worldwide as a member of World Master Hockey (WMH) on March 9, 2020, with the goal of developing and increasing Master Hockey worldwide. The International Hockey Federation (FIH) regards WMH as a single master body responsible for internationally coordinating hockey for international master’s.

NATIONAL NEWS:

1) Government structures a Kisan Rail board of trustees to settle its modalities:

The committee was created to work out the modalities of’ Kisan Rail’ under the aegis of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, which additionally comprises of individuals from the Ministry of Railways where Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman proposed to set up Kisan Rail by means of the Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) framework for a cold supply chain for the transport of perishable goods during the FY220-21 budget.

2) 6th International Yoga Day, drove by PM Modi to occur in Leh:

The Major national occasion for the sixth International Day of Yoga is to be held in Leh, the capital of Ladakh on 21st June 2020 where the occasion will be driven by PM Modi. AYUSH Minister of Union Shripad Naik had declared this.

3) The Indian Government has formed a high-level committee of ministers to study coronovirus prevention and management:

A high-level group of ministers (GOM) has been set up by the Government of India to study, track and assess the current preparedness and steps taken to handle Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).

4) HAL planned to develop a platform for the sale of aircraft in 4 countries:

On March 9, 2020, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), an Indian state-owned aviation and defence firm, is seeking opportunities to build up a coordinations base in four nations (Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Sri Lanka) as a major aspect of its endeavors to persuade those countries to purchase Tejas and light helicopters made in India.

5) Divya Kala Shakti is hosted for the first time by Tamil Nadu:

Government of Tamil Nadu is hosting the first ever regional occassion “Divya Kala Shakti: Witnessing the abilities in disabilities a unique cultural” event at Kalaivanar Arangam, Chennai on 12 March 2020, where Governor of Tamil Nadu Shri Banwarilal Purohit will observe the event.

6) World Bank and GoI conclude an Agreement on Rain-Agriculture Resilient to the Environment:

On March 11, 2020, the World Bank, Government of India and Government of Himachal Pradesh signed a USD 80 million credit agreement to increment agricultural efficiency and enhance water management practices.

 

WORLD NEWS:

1) World Kidney Day to be celebrated on March 12th:

World Kidney Day is commended on March 12, each year on the second Thursday of March, with the intention of shedding light on issues and educating individuals on the importance of kidney safety in general and the prevalence and effect of kidney disease and related medical problems around the world.

2) WHO pronounces Corona Virus as UNIVERSAL EPIDEMIC:

The World Health Organization announced Corona Virus as a Global Pandemic which is considered as universal epidemic on March 11, 2020 as it is spreading quickly over the world. Total more than 126,369 people are diagnosed with COVID-19 where 4,634 people have been killed by the virus so far.

 

SPORTS NEWS:

1) PV Sindhu has received the 2019 BBC Indian Sportswoman and the Lifetime Achievement Award for PT Usha:

On March 8, 2020, 24-year-old Pusarla Venkata Sindhu received the 2019 BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) Indian Sportsman of the Year award, and previous sprinter Pilavullakandi Thekkeparambil Usha was granted the Lifetime Achievement award in New Delhi, where the BBC award ceremony took place.
