:SYLLABUS OF EXAMINATION:

Unit – I 

Principles and Techniques of exploration and excavation. Traditional & Scientific approach. Types of excavations. Techniques of exploration, Dating (Absolute & Relative). 

Unit – II 

Prehistory 

Stone Age Cultures (Palaeolithic, Mesolithic, Neolithic). Important sites – Tool types and Techniques. Material of stone age tools, Rock Art. 

Unit – III 

Proto history 

Copper & Bronze Age Cultures – Harappan, Post Harappan Chalcolithic cultures – Ganeshwar, Ahar, Malwa, Painted Grey ware Culture, Megalithic culture. 

Unit – IV 

Early Historical Archaeology 

Northern Black Polished ware and associated cultures – Maurya, Shunga, Kushana, Gupta & Post Gupta cultures upto 1200 A.D. 

Unit – V 

Culture of Rajasthan 

Didwana – Sambhar, Bagor, Bairath, Rairh, Nagari, Early temple architecture & Sculpture.
